Supports Cancer Patients through 'Be Part of the Hope' Initiative
Sharjah Islamic Bank, in collaboration with Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) and MasterCard, has announced a new initiative that aims to provide treatment and support for cancer patients in the UAE. The program also offers necessary care for patients and their families.
As part of this initiative, which is titled: 'Be part of the hope, Sharjah Islamic Bank will donate a percentage of the amount spent by customers using MasterCard Debit and Prepaid cards to Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP). The donation will be a contribution from the bank without incurring any fees on its customers. The bank will transfer the amount to the FoCP's account on a monthly basis as a contribution to the care and treatment of cancer patients in the UAE.
Speaking on the occasion, His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said: "Inspired by the tremendous efforts of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of the Friends of Cancer Patients Society (FoCP), the International Ambassador of the UICC World Cancer Declaration and the WCD International Ambassador for Paediatric Cancer, we launched a new humanitarian initiative that aims to help save the lives of cancer patients in the UAE. The initiative falls under our corporate social responsibility efforts towards the community and our commitment to the health and safety of its people."
He added: "This initiative is a testament to the Bank's strong rooted values and is a result of the joint efforts of MasterCard and FoCP. Through this initiative, we have managed to transform our MasterCard payment solutions into a tool that will help save more Cancer patients, especially children. We feel that this initiative will be well received by our customers and will encourage them to spend using these cards, to increase the amount transferred to FoCP monthly. This will help us provide treatment and care to patients and give them new hope for a better life".
Her Excellency Ameera BinKaram, Founding Member and President of the FoCP's Board of Trustees, expressed her heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Sharjah Islamic Bank's continued efforts to support FoCP, enabling the society to provide its services to greater number of patients. She added: "Be part of the hope" initiative will make its audience a partner to the society, which will help establish the concept of social responsibility and confirm the UAE's leadership in humanitarian deeds, inspired by the UAE's founding father and leading philanthropist, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah rest his soul in peace). Following the approach of the late father, all national corporations, including Sharjah Islamic Bank, are eager to uphold the values of benevolence and giving."

We are confident that this campaign will inspire the bank's customers to support FoCP."
The initiative will enable FoCP to expand its various services to a larger group of cancer patients, particularly children. FoCP offers free treatment, including medicine, cost of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, medical costs from early detection to surgery and the cost of undergoing surgeries abroad; such as bone marrow transplants, as well as prosthetic limbs and other medical equipment.
In addition, SIB customers can also donate to FoCP's account by visiting any of Sharjah Islamic Bank branches across the UAE.
