What is Pink Caravan?
Pink Caravan is the first of its kind; it’s part of Friends Of Cancer Patients national cancer campaign across the UAE. Our vision for Pink Caravan is to become a vehicle for change by engaging all breast cancer related NGO’s to join together and unify UAE awareness efforts.
The Journey
February 2013 – The 2013 tour is fast approaching and preparations are underway to make this journey have high impact in terms of quality service delivery. The target for clinical breast examination performed by physician is 5,000 again this year, a target our committed medical teams comfortably achieved last year – however we remain adamant that Pink Caravan continues to reach the rural community and revisiting the screening centers we visited last year as well as spreading out to new locations along the proposed 2013 route.
Our Objectives
Pink Caravan is a series of programmes which actively spreads awareness of breast cancer through education and screening, with focus on rural areas, to activate change.
Our Patron
For almost three decades, Her Highness, Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qassimi, wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs has played a pivotal role in the social development of women
The Organisational committee
Our committee is a group of dynamic and dedicated individuals that volunteer their time and professional skills towards the Pink Caravan Campaign. Every person on our team is devoted to Spread awareness and encourage early detection by regular self examination and screening amongst the UAE people.
Mobile Medical Unit & Awareness Team
Each of the 3 years (2011-2013) the Pink Caravan travels a different journey & covers approximately 600km across the desert. Keeping with the theme of Arabia, the horses were a deliberate attempt to attract wide attention and in the process, stimulate conversation around breast cancer in an otherwise culturally conservative community.
